Stan Phelps was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, where he has worked as a painter, muralist, printmaker, educator, freelance designer and co-proprietor of The Heart Studio, a multi-disciplined art facility featuring art exhibitions and art programs. He is the co-director of the Loreburn Cultural Centre in Loreburn, Saskatchewan. His murals are found throughout western Canada, most notably at the Calgary Stampede and at the Calgary City Hall. His work can be found in private and corporate collections, both nationally and internationally, including the Canada Council Art Bank in Ottawa and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
