Rita Camacho Lomeli (Mexico City) is a multidisciplinary artist. Her most recent projects include installations, drawings, artist’s books and simple activities such as walking. Rita’s latest work consists of monochromatic geometric shapes and forms. These works reflect on medium histories and processes, their formal and material vocabularies, and their contemporary conditions. Her works are celebrated for their economy of means and noted for their consistent engagement with issues of surface and support. These monochromatic works aim to challenge interpretation. They are simultaneously fullness and void, specific and universal, tangible and immaterial, a moment of silence. Rita received her MFA from OCAD University and has obtained grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council and exhibited her work in artist-run centres, festivals and on the streets. As an educator, her role consists of familiarizing students with contemporary art and design.
