Clay Workshop with: Lauren Chipeur
Saturday, June 5, 2021 | 1 – 3pm

This clay workshop is an accompaniment to Lauren Chipeur’s exhibition, the weight of being held. Participants are invited to investigate their nearby environments through walking, collecting and working with wild clay. Workshop participants will make a sculpture using clay from Southern Saskatchewan that has been collected and processed by Lauren. The content of the workshop will be delivered via a written prompt emailed to participants and during a zoom event held on Saturday, June 5 (1-3pm). During the zoom workshop, Lauren will provide advice and techniques for simple hand-building with the provided clay and facilitate a discussion with participants. She will also share info about her making process and the artworks found in the installation at Neutral Ground. The workshop is limited to 15 participants.

Participants will be required to pick up clay and drop off completed works (to be fired) at Neutral Ground’s gallery during opening hours. If this is not possible for you please get in touch and we can work on a solution.

Clay will be available to pick up at the gallery May 18 –  28 during open hours (Tues – Fri, 11am-6pm & Sat. 12 -4pm). Finished works must be dropped off at the gallery Tuesday June 8 – Friday June 11 (11am-6pm) to be fired.

Arrangements will be made to return the fired works to participants at a later date.
