Tim Brady biography
Tim Brady is a composer and electric guitarist who has been radically reshaping new music for electric guitar for over 25 years. Named by Guitar Player Magazine as "One of the 30 most important guitarists for the future of the instrument" in 1997, Brady has released 19 CDs of music as a composer and guitarist since 1988 and has toured extensively in North America, Europe, and Australia both as a soloist and with his new music ensemble Bradyworks. Featured performances have included the Bang on a Can Marathon (New York), Festival Présence (Paris), OUTPUT Festival / Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam), the Winnipeg Symphony New Music Festival, the X-Avant Festival (Toronto) and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (UK). Equally regarded as a chamber and orchestral composer, recent performances include work with Symphony Nova Scotia (Violin Concerto), the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra (Amplify, Multiply, Remix and Redefine: in memory of Les Paul), the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (We're Hardcore) and percussionist Bev Johnston (RANT!). Since 2008 Brady has been the composer-in-residence with the Orchestre symphonique de Laval (Québec), and president of the Canadian New Music Network. www.timbrady.ca

24 Frames - music for electric guitar, live electronics and video, The electric guitar as orchestra, as chamber soloist, as virtuoso performer, as sonic explorer, as mediator between sound and silence.

"24 Frames" brings together Brady's over 25 years of work creating new music for electric guitar in a multi-movement, multi-dimensional performance of beauty, intensity and a multitude of other 6-string scenarios.

The music combines at times the harmonic richness and groove of jazz, the rigour and precision of contemporary classic work, a nod towards the sound art of electroacoustics, the restraint of chamber music balanced by the raw energy of a rock band. Each movement explores its own unique sound world, combined with powerful video projections created specially for the project by video artists Martin Messier and Nelly-Éve Rajotte (12 Miniatures).

"24 Frames" is for listeners interested in the guitar, in new musical ideas, in multi-media performance, in moving music beyond its traditional genres and boundaries, and for any who likes to see a dazzling solo performer give it their all.
